Shorts and a Blazer at a Bouncy Birthday

Not sure how it happened but the dog days of summer are upon us.  A fall season of long sweeping hemlines is almost here.  So I'd like to suggest you give one of my summer go-to faves a final whirl: shorts with a blazer. Do it. Now.

The combination is just the right bit of pulled-together, warm weather chic for ladies of a certain age and certain size.  It gives those of us who aren't teenagers or size 2s a nice amount of coverage while still showing off the tanned gams. Love love love.

It's a look that can work equally well for day or evening. Shoes make a big difference. Flats skew more day, heels more evening. The material and color of the shorts and the blazer also factor: lighter/matte materials read more day while heavier/sheen-ier materials read evening.

It can be the ideal combo for nights in with girlfriends.

You know those kind of nights you head over to a friend's house for her birthday par-tay.

And she just happens to have rented a bouncy house!!!!

So you get the hell out of that HIGH-larious death trap and you end up playing (and sucking at) flip cup.

And then you take out your sore loser, drunken angst on a poor pinata, beating it within an inch of it's life to amass as much candy as you can. Like a pig.

You know those typical adult bday party kinda nights ;)

The only trend that eludes me: maxi skirts.  I swear I cannot find a long skirt to save my life.  They are all I want to wear this fall.  Please help me find one.  Gracias. Kiss you.

What to Wear to the Dodger Stadium Club

The Scene
It took us 33 long, hard years but Mr. Diabolina and I finally made it. We've seemingly arrived. We've clearly done something right with our lives. This summer we snagged an invite to the Dodger Stadium Club.

We've now watched a game from a private Dodger-ed out suite filled with silver trays of Dodger dogs and a frig full of beer. D-R-E-A-M!

The Outfit
Growing up, I went to at least half a dozen Dodger games a season.  My grandmother and her boyfriend (my grandmother is a TRIP!) used to take me.

And still now, every year, despite my aversion to most non-USC sporting events, I'll go to at least one Dodger game (previous posts here and here).  Like any good Angeleno, I always "think blue" when dressing for Dodger Stadium.

For this particularly fabulous occasion this meant blue meow meow

I spotted this adorable facsimile of the Miu Miu Spring kitty print in a window of a little store on Melrose.  Loved the precious neckline and the sheerness of the material and the nipped in waist.  When I realized it was under $30, I was sold. .

Like every other blogger that snatched up the Zara "Miao Miao" dress.  How Zara escapes the lawsuits that plague Forever 21 I will never understand.

And why I refuse to tire of the whimsy of the Miu Miu Spring Collection, I will never understand either.

What I do know is that only in LA will bougie piglets wear Gucci and Marc Jacobs shoes to a baseball game and not give it a second thought.

And only in LA would no one bat an eye if Elton wore a sequinned Dodger uniform. Over the top fey style. No wonder I love LA.

Hello iPad!

Last month I was takin care o' business when I saw this on the mirror in the potty at work. And I realized: Wow, I WOULD look great with an iPad. At least better than that smug beotch in Pepto Bismal jeans in the ad.

So I went ahead and entered a little contest my employer was having raffling off 10 iPads. And the next day, much to amazement, I found out that I was one of the international winners. Mind you, my company has 14,000 employees worldwide so winning was like finding a modern day Golden Ticket.

Before long I was bougie pigging it up with my new digital bff.  I love any excuse to read and read some more.

Before you could say "lucky bitch" I was pondering what designer iPad case I should buy since I'd actually saved money by winning.  I did my due dillegence online and in stores.  And by week three of my search, I was leaning toward the Louis Vuitton case but the Oscar de La Renta was tempting.

Luckily I happened to visit Toys R Us for some birthday party supplies (more on that soooon!) and found a logo-emblazoned option for a much more reasonable $20.

She's going to work perfectly with my new ADORABLE ring collection  - $3 for pack of six at Target. Have you EVER seen anything cuter than a DOUBLE WINKING Hello Kitty????

I mean other than me with a Hello Kitty painted face at Family Fun Day at work.
