The Scene
Not sure how but I made it through the work day. Maybe it's that all the typical stresses of a job seem so inconsequential when something REAL is happening in your life. Perspective is always the silver lining of personal challenge.

On my way home, my mom insisted that she treat me to dinner. Love.
After dinner, I insisted that we get ice cream. F.

Stopped by the 31 Flavors we'd always go to when I was a little piglet. The other thing about personal challenges is that they make you crave comfort food. Ugh, my poor waistline.

Got home and was - as I'd feared - disappointed by the Gossip Girl finale. Really, they are ALL Gossip Girl? Ugh. I wanted a witch hunt and social lynching, dammit. Still think Vanessa is Gossip Girl.

Thankfully the fashion eye candy was as nummy as ever. Have had my eye on this yellow Milly sweater all year.

And loooove that Blair had a statement necklace that looks just like the one I made Friday.

Well if you cross your eyes just so it does ;)

Sad watching Mr. D's favorite show, The Hills, without him. He would have pooped that they shot in two random hot spots we just hit.

And Street.

He loves thinking we're still fabulous and keeping up with the pretty young things. Missing his PYT face.

The Commentary

Built the outfit around this DVF-inspired top. The maternity shape of it feels tres dated - soooooooo 2007 . And yet I still love this top. Mostly because of the sweet story behind it.

Think I wore it today as a reminder of a workplace where, once upon a time, I had an incredible support system. Can't believe this month marks a year since I left all my hot chick friends behind and started this job. The days fly away faster and faster with every year....

Speaking of which, it's been a looooong time since I did one of those fun Lucky Magazine-esque posts. I think all week I'll flashback and show you how I've styled the same piece in slightly different ways. Hopefully this will give you some inspiration to get creative and shop your own closet this summer.

Here's today's top with an H&M belt and Cole Haan flats

With a vintage trench and Steve Madden boots

With an Image wrap sweater and Marc Jacobs bow heels

And F21 leggings and F21 rosette earings.

Today I opted to pair it with dark denim

Though I've been obsessing on light colored denim. So unforgiving when you are snarfing cupcakes and ice cream but feels oh-so fresh for summer.

My next DIY project is acidwashed jeans.

Followed by distressed jeans. The last time I attempted either was 1989, I was 11 and dying to look like Alyssa Milano.

May also try my hand at shredding up an old sweater.

And get ahead of the fall trends with an LV-inspired chain link necklace like Coco's Tea suggests. Busy busy summer ahead ;)

You don't have to keep up with PYTs. You are fabulous PYTs yourselves.

You are like us...but stretched out taller and thinner. ;)

Nice stopoff at Baskin Robbins. I'll have you know I worked there once upon a time, and for a long time. LOVED that job. Best discontinued flavor ever= Tony the Tiger Swirl.

[whispering] Guess who is taking sewing lessons this summer? Figure, since I can't find the simple cotton skirts I want to live in over the summer in the stores, I'll just have to try making my own. I'll keep you posted on the results. ;)
