The Scene
With his mama's funeral behind him, Flower is starting to feel like himself again. I know because he sent me an email today with this subject line: Helpful site for determining if you have swine flu. This was the link he sent: http://doihavepigflu.com/

I laughed so hard that I forwarded it to a few friends. Including Fancypants. Thought she could use a laugh right about now. Never expected the response I'd get.

She called to tell me they are officially postponing the wedding in Puerto Vallarta! WAH! They made the decision primarily because her dad has cancer and his doctors have advised him against getting anywhere near LAX, much less traveling to the country where all this madness began. Heartbreaking.

Thankfully, all the vendors, airlines and hotels are being cool - waiving fees and such. We'll all just rebook for February. And Mr. Roboto and Fancypants are still having a casual ceremony that they'd planned this weekend to make things legal. Excited for that. After all a wedding isn't about a big party, it's about celebrating two people. Two people that despite all odds found each other. Two people that despite life's roadblocks keep moving forward together, hand in hand.

Still feeling inspired by all the beautiful peoples at the Chloe party last week.

Loved seeing all the white runway looks interpreted for the red carpet.

Bought today's linen dress oh about 6 years ago. Comfortable and easy summer dress.

Lived in it that first summer.

As any bride can attest, it's difficult to find a white dress that's truly flattering

Think the key is a fluid silhouette

Case in point: Mr. Roboto and Fancypants on Halloween ;)

Unless you are as enviably svelte as Fashion Toast or Thumbelina

You need a white dress to fall instead of hug

Creating length is also important when wearing all white. Dug out these so-fugly-they-are-cute espadrilles to do just that.

My inspiration: Chloe again.

Nothing like little bows on your ankles to get you through a day of unexpected challenges.

The Scene
Tonight Mr. Diabolina and I were invited to the launch party of the first CB2 store in Los Angeles.

Confession: We are THOSE yuppies that loooove Crate and Barrel so the thought of goodie bags had us positively giddy all day.

The event was surprisingly quite the hot ticket tonight in WeHo. Tons of pretty interior-designer-type gays in natty glasses and fab splashes of color. Should have invited Sable Crow. He would have fit right in with his Diabolina makeover.

On the ladies side, I was floored by the number of HIGH END designer purse/shoe combos I spied. Like this Goyard purse and Chanel flats. Yum! Apparently L.A. fashinionistas who drop serious cash on accessories, skimp on home decor. I know that's been my m.o. for the last decade.

Had a great time scopping out the cheap chic trinkets

And sucking down tasty cocktails and finger foods. Ugh, put free anything in front of us and we suddenly become po' college students.

Bought some cool wall art and a new pillow that we didn't need but knew would work perfectly with our Crate and Barrel living room.

Also got really interesting recyled place mats and Andy Warhol plates I've been eying for months.

Will spell perfection for summer entertaining. YAYAYAY!

So many blue dress inspirations lately

Perfect for me since I am a devil with a thing for blue dresses

Today I wanted to up the blue dress ante with a belt

Fell in love with the perfect one this weekend. Have been looking for just the right splash of neon for months. And there it was winking at me from the JCrew window.

It was quite pricey at $29 but I've been dying to try a thin LONG belt. Decided to take the plunge when I saw Tam's Thoughts rocking the look recently. Am also hoping it will pay for itself this summer by breathing new life into old pieces like this ol' blue dress. Felt soooo Carrie Bradshaw today with the bold kooky contrast.

I even matched the CB2 butterfly plates we got at the end of the night in the gift bags. LOVE!

My favorite outfit tonight was worn by our adorable salesperson. Probably because it was pretty similar to mine: Thin belt, neutral shoes, girly dress in a poppy color.

She called it her CB2 orange. Touche.

Head to toe bold - especially this season's trendy neon - can be tough to pull off for most women.

I find splashes much more wearable.

Here are the Net-a-Porter neon "splashes" that I've currently got my eye on.

Thinking I might try to talk Mr. Diabolina into putting off a new couch and investing in my tootsies instead ;)

Trying not to freak out about the swine flu. I find it helps to call it the piggie flu. An "i" and an "e" always makes things less menacing, more adorable, no?

Also helped that Silver Haired Fox sent me this picture and inquired if I am packing my Marc Jacobs mask for Mexico.

Clearly he doesn't think it's too soon to laugh :)

Then Jean Bean - completely independently - suggested I channel the Louis Vuitton nurses for the wedding.

Outstanding sartorial reference. Wouldn't expect anything less from a real life Conde Nast editor.

Take a gander at what she was sporting today to beat the heat in NYC. Please note the faux Diorette ring that I scored for her and the MJ pumps she bought with me. GORG! Just a little attachment she sent in an email today. But it helped me get through the day. Made me feel better. Less prone to illness and such.

Had a dream last night about Ed Westick that would make your hair curl. Yum. Unfortunately, I think it made my fro even bigger this morning. BOOOO!

Forced to build the outfit around the headband again.

Very Blair circa last week's episode, no?

Cannot get this Leighton in Chloe look out of my head.

So much so that I snapped up this BCBG skirt on sale Sunday. IN LOVE WITH IT!!! Will go with everything in my closet and work equally well in spring as in fall. Score of the century - applause please!

Loved all the neutrals working together today. Felt like one of the pretty party people at the Chloe party last week. Loads of glorious high-waisted action there.

I actually much prefer my $40 skirt over the $995 Chloe version.

Think the cut of mine is infinitely more flattering.

If money were no object I would love to get a pair of paper bag waist pants and shorts too.

But it is so I won't ;(

Thankfully I have an eye for approximating runway looks on a shoestring budget.

In fact, look closely at today's like vintage jacket. It has similar little scalloped edging as the Chloe spring 2009 looks.

Ugh. Seriously someone has to pluck me from obscurity. Pay me or study me or something me. Shit.
