I have a lovely reader to thank. She enabled---I mean, tweeted me after seeing that Seattle blogger Styleish nabbed my beloved swallow print mary jane platforms on Bergdorf's site. Which was totes bananas since the shoes have been sold out for months all around the country. Believe me.  I looked in 4 citites.

Never EVER dreamed I'd get my hands on them brand new. Thought I'd have to wait and maybe find them resale.  Like all my other little Miu Mius. (Violins...)

When they arrived it was a MAJOR occasion in the Diabolina household.  Even Mr. D was thrilled for me. . In fact, he flew them around the room a few times in celebration. That's 11 years of training, ladies

They are everything I could have hoped for and more. My favorite shoes of all time.  STAMP!

They are - duh - cuter than words could ever express. They are unique, arresting, strange. They are also comfortable and incredibly versatile.

So versatile that I decided to wear them for a week straight. I've been in a bit of a fashion rut and I wanted to challenge myself to get back to fabulous. Figured 7 days of these shoes would be the perfect way to do it

Plus I thought it'd be inspiring to share the results with all of you as a kind of Lucky Magazine/wear one thing multiple ways post.  So here goes...

Day #3:

Forever 21 dress and jacket with YSL purse. Inspired by my mom the night before. LOVE this look.

And so did an engineer at my office. He must have been in his 50s, someone's dad, but he practically clapped his hands when he saw them.  And when I said the heels are a bit ominous, a little Hitchock's The Birds, he lit up like a Chirstmas tree, said, "THEY ARE! You MUST work in marketing."

Which I do.  Love, love love.

Day #4:

With Zara cargo trousers, a gray tee and little black jacket. Creative, casually fab, random look. A+

Day #5:

With Madewell jeans, Phillip Lim top, YSL jacket and purse for sushi with my mom.  Hodgepodge of a look but I likes it.

Day #6:

With H&;M skirt and Forever 21 top, Thomas Wydle scarf, new LA Fashion District necklace to watch 127 Hours with my mom.  She was wearing a statement ring too.

A little too much going on but at least I went for it. Balls out.

Kinda like cutting your arm off in cave. GO SEE THE MOVIE! I promise it will change your perspective.

Day #7:

With liquid/latex leggings from American Apparel, denim work shirt from H&M, Gucci scarf and Chanel bag to meet my new favorite friend at Saks for an Elle/Surfrider/Ralph Lauren event hosted by Minnie Driver.

This last outfit was probably my FAVORITE. Mostly because it was practically identical to what Claire from Beverly Hills 90210 was wearing!!! We arrived in the same elevator. She seemed pissed. HA!

Saks Fifth Avenue

And even though the Miu squared heels got NON-STOP compliments at the event, I think they paled in comparison with the HOT boots my friend was wearing.

Ugh. Adore a girl who ups the ante and inspires ME.

The Scene
Mr. Diabolina is baaaaaaaaaaack! Lots of tears and kisses tonight.

I wish I could get into what's been happening. Chronicle the horrible and the wonderful stories about the last week and how it has changed our lives forever. I think sharing could bring so much healing and positive energy around a situation filled with so much pain. But as I said last week, this is not my story to tell.

I can say that Mr. Diabolina has returned from an emotionally Herculean task and he is a different person - an even more compasionate, open and mature person. Our souls are now connected on a level I never could have dreamed possible 13 years ago when we first met, when we were just kids who didn't know any better.

I am more certain now than ever that he and I...that the life we have together...that our love was destined to be. Striking the clarity that tragedy can bring.

The Commentary

Typically when I wear this skirt I pair it with a black top and red shoes.

But today I decided to do things a little bit differently. Starting with the deadly but gorgeous Pradas.

The fullness of this skirt always makes me feel very retro

Very Dita.

Also a bit like the inspiring Hanh in a Miu Miu print crossed with

her exquisite Commes des Garcons.

Today's red and white and black

Also reminded me of last week's inspired Chanel Resort collection.

Love that for less than $30 I got a timeless skirt that is a cross between See by Chloe

And Thakoon. God I heart Forever 21.

It's also where I scored today's little sequin bolero.

Nothing like sequins to battle the doldrums at work.

Think I proved today that you don't have to be a working girl to rock sequins by day

Sure sparkle is more expected at night.

But just the right sequin accents can bring a quirky playfulness to your daytime wardrobe.

In lust with this perfectly languid DVF sequin blazer. If it weren't $800 I'd own it and wear it every day.

Also getting into the idea of a sequin skirt with a tossed on t-shirt. Casual elegance at it's best.

Mixing sequins with denim is also a no brainer.

Sequined shoulders would be fierce too. Think I smell another DIY...
