The Scene
Mr. Diabolina's birthday!!!! Can't believe it's been a year since last year's Donkey Kong/90210/Shakey's rager. How time flies when you are in love. And old ;(

Last night's silent auction brought Mr. D some early presents. Ripped into them this morning.

My favorite part: the matching SC toothbrushes. Life is now complete.

Mr. D's favorite? USC Crocs.

He loved them so much that he wore them WITH his matching yellow polo OUT of the house WITHOUT irony. It was, um, a whole lotta look. I didn't say a word though. As he reminded me several times today, I have to be nice to him on his birthday.

So we all turned a blind eye: my mom

And Sable Crow

His oldest sister

His younger siblings

And his adorable parents.

We let him grill up DELICIOUS burgers for us

Blow out his candles

And open his presents

(Including a snuggie to match mine)

All while wearing the most REDUNCULOUS footwear known to man. We love him THAT much.

The Outfit
Fashion District dress

The Accessories
Louis Vuitton earrings
Banana Republic necklace
Marc by Marc Jacobs sandals

The Grade
Pass

The Commentary
Was feeling completely exhausted today after NYC and yesterday's trip down to The OC. Couldn't get my fashion mojo together AT ALL. Must have changed five times in the half hour before everyone showed up for dinner. Ugh.

Finally decided to just build the outfit around the necklace. Just saw it in the latest issue of O. Third time I've seen it featured in editorials. First time was in Marie Claire and then Vogue. And yet no one other than me seems to have seen it in the store. Everyone acts shocked when I tell them it's Banana.

Thought the strapless dress would show off the Marni like bauble nicely

Loving strapless dresses lately

Especially ones in colors that pop

Or yummers prints

And dramatic hemlines

Think too many women shy away from strapless

I say give this neckline a try - just start with a little coverage

Surprising how a sweater or jacket can change the whole look, no?

The hemline can also make a big difference. It's all about proportions remember? I tend to favor a longer, mid-calf hemline when I go strapless. But that's just me. And, maybe J Lo :)

Currently fiending for just the right strapless bustier.

Think it could be soooo fierce for sultry summer nights.

Especially with a DELISH strappy wedge

Alas, for now, I'll have to settle for a croc. What a crock.

I actually have a very similar necklace from Banana from about 2 years ago but mine is in orange and brown and gold.

Happy B-day, Mr. D! And wow...you were magnanimous there. I'd have said something.

You always look cute, even when you think your outfits suck.

I have no words for those crocs ... other than, Mr. D is lucky to be surrounded by so many people who love him. I too heart the 'SC toothbrushes - saw them at the RB this year and wanted to get them as stocking stuffers, but S was lurking around so I couldn't buy them covertly.

Love the last pic! I also love the color of your dress. It looks great on you!

Mr D looks so tall next to the door. hahaha! I ran into him again strolling the streets of DTLA. :) Next time I see him, I'll wish him a Happy belated Bday! That would probably really freak him out, so I'll just acknowledge him quietly, like I always do.

Do you stand on a chair when you take photos of Mr. D?

Happy Birthday Mr. D. There is nothing wrong with a little USC Croc action - proud owner of a cardinal pair and digging the bright gold shirt, you and CSH are cut out of the same mold I think...

D - love your necklace and dress!

Since it was his birthday, I too will withhold judgment on the Crocs. But I am not happy.

Oh, nothing is better than Croc-ery Mockery.

I dare him to wear them to work tomorrow. It is Casual Friday, after all.

Juana, no Diabolina does not stand on a chair, but she does extend her arm above her head to take the picture. It's still not high enough. I am an animal.

Tam Pham, Ronald McDonald and adorable should not be in the same sentence, but thanks for the compliment.

Bean, you will see me in Crocs the next time I see you.

WeMo, I just might.

Thanks everyone for commenting and wishing me well.

OHHH no on the Crocs. My Mr. considered a pair while we were in Hawaii. We made so much fun of all the tourists and their Crocs... until he tried them on and I was left alone to make fun of all of the tourists.

Those crocs! :/

My local BR had a slew of those necklaces in late March and as of this weekend they are all gone. I'm glad I snagged mine when I did.
