The Scene
Mr. Diabolina and Danny B had a date with the Dodgers tonight so Daisy Duke's and I made last minute plans for a girl's night. A little catching up over TGIF cocktails - just what I needed.

Invited Lauragami since I figured the only thing better than a twentysomthing glamazon brunette is a twentysomthing glamazon blonde. (Please note DD's belt and L's flirty ruffles - adore!)

Daisy Duke's close friend and coworker Z also made it out - rounding out the Friday foursome and balancing the blonde/brunette ratio.

All night, Lauragami charmed with self-deprecating tales of dating in L.A., cutting her own bangs, French Connection party dresses and Dubai business partners. Heart her.

We grabbed dinner at R+D Kitchen - part of the Houston's chain.

My ahi burger was tasty but my martini was tastier.

Moved the party to Venice for sangria with my friend BFA and his girlfriend. I vaguely remember a drinking contest with the bartender and thinking I saw Whitney from The Hills! Perfect low-key but fun-times start to the weekend.

The Commentary
I cannot get enough of high waisted skirts. Wanted to pair it with a brown tank today. Am all about brown and black lately. But couldn't find the tank I had in mind so opted for the beigey/brown Marc tee instead.

Added the high/low mix of accessories. Kept everything in rich shades of brown to sass up the simple basics. Love how the chain necklace works with the bag's chain handle. It's like they were made to be BFFs.

The only thing about a high-waisted, voluminous skirt is that it's HUGEly unflattering from certain angles. Fine when you are a barely legal toothpick starlet.

Not so much when you are a mo' meaty thirtysomething! Good thing I wore these sky high Chloe platforms today. The height helps offset the bulk by elongating the line. Plus Daisy Duke's and Lauragami are both six feet in their bare feet. Yay not feeling as Hobbit-like as I normally do around them.

Plan on wearing these Chloe shoes alot this fall. Am starting to see wooden soles everywhere. Particularly the Stella's that I discovered back in May.

Sigh. I really need to harness this trend forecasting into something that spells C-A-S-H. Use my powers for good (making money) not evil (spending money.)

You looked sassy D!

But I must admit that I cannot take my eyes off that Elle cover. That is the most hideous cover ever! Did she piss someone off at the magazine? It looks like she squating and covering up her #2 or something!

hahah, mar5195.

didn't really notice her gollum like crouch until now. i was too transfixed by the shoes. And the eyeliner. the eye make up looks fierce. even if her body looks like she's making a doody.

Heart you and love your blog. Am loving it more with all the volatility on Wall Street. Much-needed levity in a grave world.

I love wooden soles -- wanted some to go with my vintage dresses but haven't found the right ones yet.
