What to Wear in Dallas

Packing for any trip can be intimidating. Packing for a trip to see your bestie who works for Neiman Marcus kicks things up a notch, believe you me.

Meeting up with fashion bloggers only adds to the pressure.

And throwing in Dallas, Texas, didn't help things for my non-NRA ass.

I mean I love an animal print but I'm not used to seeing a face attached to it. Maybe that's why they call it the "show me" state?

For once I sartorially envied Mr. Diabolina. All he had to do was throw a few western inspired button downs and jeans in a bag and he was done.

The only thing he didn't have: boots. He not so secretly coveted Texas Cowboy's incredible collection.

I love a man with a thing for shoes and bags to match ;)

Though Jean Bean's closet full of Pradas were definitely more my speed.  I'll take two of everything. Including her yoga-taut gams.

In the end, packing my little carry-on came down to three things. Top criteria was comfort. Needed to be able to move and relax in everything. Second was breathe-ability. Humidity was going to be an issue and I sweat like it's my job. Finally, everything I packed had to mix well together. The last point is really the key to packing well for any trip.

For example, I knew the sky blue heels and clutch could work with the strapless dress for a night at the opera house AND the one shouldered dress for Easter brunch. In fact, I knew the shoes and purse could also work with the white, pom pom dress, H&M stripped dress and even with the green jumper. Same thing with the gold sandals.

Accessories are the key to having loads of options when traveling. The best part: they don't take up a ton of room in your suitcase. See how different the same jumper looks sans the necklace and fuschia sweater from the first picture with the bright yellow scarf?

Color can make all the difference. ;)

If you learn one thing from my blog: invest in luxe, colorful accessories. They can make even the most casual of outfits or cheapest of F21 dresses look polished and pulled-together. Here Jean Bean packs Prada while wearing shorts and a polo.  Love.

Prada to a gun range? Makes perfect sense when you see the protective eyewear. Tres Spring 2010.

Gawd, I already miss my little devilish partner in fashion crime.

She better not replace me with all her new fancy Dallas friends

(That's Larry Hagman for all you young children who missed the 80s. He was the JR in "Who Shot JR?"!! A remake is being filmed of Dallas in Dallas as we speak. Get excited, old people)

You never fail to look like a superstar in that stripey H&M dress - that has to be one of your best finds ever.
