A feast, a mentor and those Miu Miu birds

A few months ago Kbro told me he was planning a very special gathering of friends and colleagues from all different walks of life, from all different corners of the country and from all different periods of his life. As with most things Kbro pitches, I was instantly intrigued.  Plus I hadn't seen him this inspired and excited in a long time.

He had a vision of a kind of a weekend conference/reunion with the theme being: art vs. commerce. A theme he and I discuss often. An aerospace engineer by trade and a painter by choice, Kbro's goal was to bring together loved ones, create/build something collaboratively and share some quality time together.

Over the months of planning and coordinating, the physical something that would be created became a chandelier.  Kbro envisioned the chandelier being created in 48 hours and then illuminating a table filled with fine food and the kindred spirits who had created it. Brilliant...literally ;)

He decided to call the event Birdpile because the definition of Birdpile is a feast among friends. His mom even sent him a bird tie clip for the occasion.  Love.

The event turned out even more spectacular than I could have imagined. The location, the people, the conversations, AND SWEET BABY JESUS THE FEAST WE HAD. Whipped up by the chef at the Hotel Bel Air. A cherub cheeked sweetheart of a man.

Mr. Diabolina and I were thrilled to have made the cut for dinner, to be able to meet Kbro's inner circle - some he's known since he was a teenager. Kbro is one of a handful of friends who are slightly older and waaaay cooler than us and that frankly we see as mentors.  I take his advice to heart - professionally and personally and even sartorially.  Over the last 6 years, he has become like the older brother Mr. Diabolina and I never knew we needed.

He is also quite the ham.  Which brings out the camera whore in everyone.  WHICH I LOVE.

Like a little nerdy younger sister, I was relieved the outfit (American Apparel leggings, Tashkent by Cheyenne heels, vintage fur, Forever 21 necklace) I chose went over very well with the too cool for school crowd. AND it just happened to match the setting too.

Took my inspiration from all the fierce fashionistas braving the cold weather months back east and abroad.  God to look that amazing even all bundled up and Michellin Man style!

My SOLE regret for the evening? Not wearing the new Miu Miu shoes I am obsessed with, MUST own and WILL THROW A FIT WHEN SEA OF SHOES GETS. They practically scream BIRDPILE, no?  That Miuccia and Kbro sure do think alike.

Fabulous outfit! And those Miu Miu shoes are something else. I would totally go for them, but I like the chunky heel, slightly quirky shoe. I can't wait to when you acquire them and how you rock them with your wardrobe.
