The Scene
In major discomfort all night from yesterday's procedure. Gotta love how a test to see if you're sick can MAKE you sick. F.

Was wide awake by 4 a.m. Raised a stink with the doctor by 8 am. Worked a full day then picked up medication at 5 pm. By dinner time I was starting to feel much better. Or maybe that was just Mr. Diabolina and the Mexican food.

Ended the night by renting the Gonzo documentary about Hunter Thompson. Did you know Thompson learned how to write by typing out the works of Fitzgerald? He wanted to get down the rhythm of Fitzgerald's prose. Gawd I love that. I love not being the only nerd enraptured by the the musical quality of great writing.

The Commentary

Donned my Phillip Lim knock off today.

Effortlessly comfortable but fabulously chic.

Am realizing that in the face of physical pain or emotinal hardship, I tend to revert to uber-feminine even vaguely juvenile looks.

Freud would have a field day with me.

So happy to see Phillip brought back the embroiddered overlay
for Resort 2010.

It's truly one of his most casually elegant collections yet.

Love the minis

And the maxis

The high waisted gray shorts

And the cocoon like gray cardigan.

And the mixing of separates

Particularly digging the polka dots paired with the exquisitely draped neutral skirt.

It's all vaguely reminiscent of the Vena Cava and Alex Wang CFDA designs currently at Gap. Have been dying to see them in person since I read Thumbelina's magical account last week.

Tried on both of these $89 dresses today. Sadly, I didn't love them.

The fit was less than ideal on an old gal with boobs and hips. Think for these dresses to work you have to have one or the other. You can't have both. I also found the khaki material quite stifling. Ughs. Nothing worse than a dress you can't move in.

Much prefer Lim flowiness

Mixed with a dash of Lim bling bling.

I'm all about a comfy dress when you're not feeling so comfy yourself. {{hugs}}
