The Scene
Today's Mommy Fashion Mission: Finding just the right Obama tee shirt for her to wear on Tuesday. Seemingly simple task in theory. But horrifingly difficult when your mother is a Goldilocks. Ugh. One t-shirt was too big, another too small, one too blingy, another not blingy enough. Oy vey it's hard to please 5 foot tall new citizens.

Was tempted to just call it a day and get her this t-shirt from Mr. Prettier than Me's website, You Are So Famous. Meet Obamadonna - the most powerful man in the free world crossed with the most powerful woman in pop music history!!! Ahhhmazing! What will those gays think of next?

Probably not my mom's speed tho. Think this new Tory tote for the Runway for Change collection is more her style. Pricey though: $70.

Ended the day with a steakhouse dinner with Mr. D's homies.

I tricked myself into thinking I was one of the boys too and ate everything on this plate. F.

But for once I was out-pigged. Before dinner Danny B inhaled a milkshake and after dinner he led the charge on this fudge brownie. My hero.

The Commentary
Jumpsuits are coming for you this spring - be very afraid. Everyone from YSL to Proenza Schouler to Max Azaria showed them on the runway. In a variety of cuts and colors and fabrics.

They are all over the magazines, red carpets and shopbop this very instant. But that doesn't mean they are for everyone. They are definitely not for the faint of heart. Or the inflexible.

If you're brave enough to dare to wear a jumpsuit, they can feel like a dream. The comfort of pants with the ease of dress. I love the versatility too.

They work for a night out on the town

And a day of errands.

Just switch up the accessories to create endless possibilities and create looks appropriate for practically any occasion.

Warning: the jersey versions can be a bit clingy for those of us who aren't stick thin models.

Solution: don a light jacket or sweater. Conceal the wobbly bits - voila!

I'd also recommend not spending too much money on this trend - it's not classic enough to merit the expenditure. After all my $20 version isn't too different from this $220 Rachel Pally version or this Baron Duquette version for $326. In fact, my jumpsuit might even be better!

Think it's actually the exact same one Kim is rocking here with fierce accessories - check out more detailed pictures here.

One final note: an added degree of jumpsuit difficulty is the harem, MC Hammer cut. Leave that look to professionals (and people who pretend to be professionals like me.) Otherwise you will have to deal with people gaping in HORROR and DISBELIEF like I did all day today.

Hilarious. It's JUST a baggy jumpsuit, people! If you don't like it don't wear one. Simple.

Interestingly, by the end of the day I had detected a direct correlation between how much someone reacted to my outfit and how fashionable their own outfit was. The well heeled set hardly batted an eye. The non-fashion plates couldn't stop staring...with snarky eyes and lips pursed. Sigh. I could seriously write a whole dissertation about how we judge others based on our own insecurities.

You rock that jumpsuit girl! You'd get no snarky looks from this girl. How I wish I could pull that off.

I recently started reading your blog and absolutely love it! This post has made me consider rocking a jumpsuit and I've never worn one before. Let's hope I can rock it as fashionably as you do.

That jumpsuit is fabulous and you wore it beautifully. I totally understand what you're saying about the people who wouldn't know fashion if it hit them across the face judging and snickering at people they are totally jealous of IMO.

P.S. You are too hard on yourselves with your grades lol!

You know, you are so right! It is really, really easy to give people "WTF are you wearing?" looks when the real issue at hand is "Gee, I wish I could wear that." So congrats on the jumpsuit, it really is cute. And yes, I wish I could pull that off. Unfortunately, I think I kind of passed the age-appropriate cut off. Bummer.

How could anyone not like this outfit? They are totally just wishing they had the balls to try it.

Thanks for the heart kisses. Totally need them. And thanks for taking the survey down....did the trick! Have missed you like crazy.

Obamadonna is highlarious. I'm still dying to wear the awesome vintage jumpsuit I got from Cherie at Shrimpton Couture, but it's been too damn cold for it.

I have decided that this is the year that I don't care what people think about my fashion. Honestly, in Chile fashion as a whole is such crap anyway that if the poorly dressed people think I look weird, then I'm probably doing something right. Unfortunately, I feel pretty confident in saying that the Santiago malls do not have any jumpsuits in stock :( I will have to live vicariously through you.
