The Scene

Those pesky Santa Anas kept waking me up last night. Kept looking outside our bedroom window and seeing enormous palm trees trashing about in the wind. Scary.

Was at work until 9:00 pm tonight. BANANAS. That "brilliant" idea I had a few weeks ago has gotten company leaders super sweet excited. Meh. Feeling alot of performance anxiety. Going to be crazy busy through January. Double ugh. I wanted to ease through the holidays.

One thing that helped immensely today was that I brought in The Riz to help with some visual identity stuff for the project. Kind of a big deal. I was trying not to invest too much of myself in this job. And whenever you bring in a friend as a freelancer, things inevitably get personal.

But we needed help and my boss said to bring in a designer who I trusted and whose language I spoke. The Riz and I worked so closely at my last job that he became my best girlfriend there.

Every project I felt proud of at that job we worked on together. Miss him. So glad we got the opportunity to cross paths professionally again.

The Commentary

The trees swaying in the wind made me want to wear tights today.

Have been obsessing over tights lately.

Wanted to wear my most opaque pair but they were no where to be found. Had to settle for age old footless tights that have seen better days.

Was feeling super duper Reese cute in my short swingy dress, jacket, tights and boots. Then, suddenly, in a meeting I brushed the back of my leg. Can't be, I thought. And then I looked to confirm. F.

My tights had torn right behind the knee, well below the hem of my swingy LBD. Ack!

And I don't mean torn as in Fashion Toast inspired by Anja at Balmain.

We are talking torn LiLo mess style. UGH! Ran to the bathroom after the meeting and whipped them off.

Think a few folks noticed that something was different. So I took off my jacket to throw them further off the scent.

Love being the MacGwyver of fashion ;)

I cannot do tights. They make me too hot, as in "hot and sweaty" not "hot and sexy."

Beyond jealous of all your boots! Can never find a pair that fits my stocky little legs and I've been on the hunt for at least 5 seasons. I believe I'm a lost cause.

Definitely an "A" outfit.

Love this outfit - equal parts high-powered businesswoman and hot fashionista. I can only imagine the tights would have been great with it.

As for the business stress, that sucks. But at least it's a project you believe in that'll let you work with someone fun and get recognition from the bosses, right? That said, I too have worked til 9 more than once, and it's never fun, no matter how great the job or the project.

Love all the black. Remember when you had to use a bathroom mirror with a lot of stalls behind you to take a picture because Mr. D is away? I love it! So potty chic.

Why does that term make me think of Peaches. Sounds like something he'd say, "potty chic".

i'm a sucker for short black skirts and tall black boots - tights or no tights, it's still hotness!
