We destress and prepare for big weekends and meditate together. Powerful stuff. Adore him. What a light he is in my life.

The Commentary

This Nanette yumminess was the centerpiece of the outfit. What a delight. Love the little side train and fluttery bottom and sweetheart neckline. Delicate and splendidly girly. Whenever I wear it I feel like a cross between a 1940s secretary and a mermaid.

Nanette Lepore’s shapes are very retro, very demurely sexy. Lots of nipped waists, rounded collars, and unabashedly feminine detailing. Her prints are also very bygone era. A little like Trina Turk.

Her clothes are ideal on a petitte frame. My mom loves her stuff. But the cuts are typically even too narrow for her tininess. So you can forget about them working on her horsey daughter who was taller than her at age 10 ;) Sigh.

Hence I only have two Nanette items. This top and the black and white tweed Chanel-y jacket that I got resale. Got today’s little number on sale. About 60 percent off. Little over $100. It was the last one and got it about a size bigger than I normally wear. Gapes a bit at the décolletage but I just had to have it. Loved the flowery print. Very romantic without feeling syrupy sweet, you know?

I’ve worn this top with a straight, skin-tight Dolce and Gabanna skirt and it’s sex kitten H-O-T. Wasn’t feeling the femme fatale today though. Didn’t want to draw the vavavoom attention. Instead opted for the pants to butch it all up.

Love how my mismatched Louis earrings works so well with the light blue and purple-y flowers of the print. Perfect!

Pulled back my hair in that bouffanty glam ponytail I love and added this little faux Dior hair pin that I got ages ago on Canal Street in NYC. Wore it in anticipation of the weekend festivities ahead. Hot child in the city style :)
