DIY: Turn a Fur Bolero into a Fur Collar

Living in LA for the last 33 years has taught me nothing about layering. But my last few trips to New York have. So I was incredibly proud of myself this time when I started out with an outfit like the one above, layered the the down vest with a furry hood over the blazer.

And added a coat and fur scarf.

But not just any fur scarf. A fur bolero that I bought when I was 21. I never wear it because...well...look at it. The proportions just don't work on me. I was kinda delusional in my early 20s.

But as I was packing it caught my eye and I realized I could just loop it through the armholes and get a fabulous neck warmer. Voila.





I swear, THE ENTIRE TRIP, I felt as I deserved a prize for being so genius.

Sadly the sprayed on green jeans with high tops kinda killed it for me

Built the outfit around the vest.

Then came the blousy top and wide leg jeans and vintage sunglasses. Perfectly glam but laid back, 70s look for a Saturday of errands. 

Perfect for tres glam errands like getting testers of paint.






And even more chic: buying an industrial vaccum.

And chicest of all: seeing Cedar Rapids.




Perfect day.

What to Wear Winter Wine Tasting

Mr. Diabolina and I are not so much into wine.

 Much to the dismay of our mothers and livers, we prefer scotch.

But we'll go wine tasting every once in a while. Like we did two summers ago. When Mr. D's firm was paying :)

Headed back to wine country for a wedding last month.  The day before the wedding we joined some of our cutest friends who rented a limo to winery hop in style. Me likey how those drunks roll!

Dressing for wine tasting in October posed a bit of a conundrum for me. Partly because the weather in California has been insufurably schizophrenic for months. But mostly because I'd never been wine tasting in the winter.

Ended up building the outfit around the boots and leggings. Added my newish Tucker top for a bit of color. And on a whim added the fur accent. 

Figured wine tasting is a pretty bougie pig activity, I should looke the part.

Took my inspiration from all those women that manage to ooze casual chic in the winter. Their functional still looks fabulous.  And there's such an elegant ease to it. Love love love it! Try to copy copy copy it ;)

Am heading back to wine country next week to celebrate Thanksgiving with my favorite wino. 

Had been hoping to get my paws on the faux fur Lanvin for H&M this weekend.


But alas I wasn't able to nab one piece of the collection. Wah-wah-wah.

Will just have to make do with a faux furry hat instead. Probably with ears.  And definitely with pockets. For wine bottles.
