The Scene
Brunch at Joe's with KFR this morning.

I arrived first and got down to brunching business with a spicy Bloody Mary. I recommended it to KFR the minute she sat down. With a twinkle in her eye, she told me she'd love one but she can't drink.

Without missing a beat, I blinked back tears and asked if that meant she was preggers! She said it did and she is. So.exciting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

To celebrate eating for two, I had the Fresh Gulf Shrimp with White Grits Cake, Etoufee of Crab and Pink Shrimp, Bloomsdale Spinach.

And KFR got the Louisiana Blue Crab Hash with Poached Eggs, Red & Yellow Peppers, Potatoes, Mustard Rosemary Sauce.

After lunch, I couldn't shake a bad feeling about the USC game. Decided not to go home and instead popped into Wasteland in Santa Monica. Found some great Marni flats and DVF prints all for under $100. But didn't NEED any of it so walked away empty handed. I know. I'm crazy restrained lately.

In the evening, Mr. Diabolina and I shook off the Trojan loss with a romatical dinner at Bar Marmont. Got there at 7 p.m. and had the entire restaurant to ourselves.

Pays to roll like senior citizens.

Shared the deviled eggs

A fig and bacon salad

The 3 cheese board

And the potato leek gnocchi. All perfection.

Then Mr. Diabolna ordered the big boxing match. I was more interested in reading my Elle magazine so he invited my mom over. She's a big boxing fan and proceeded to entertain Mr. D most of the night.

Mr. D and my mom are so close that they are starting to have the same psychic fashion connection she and I have. Tonight they looked like twinsies in Beatles tshirts. HILARIOUS!

The Commentary

Rodarte's Spring 2010 show was the inspiration for today's look

This $35 dress always reminds me of Rodarte Spring 2008

It's the swirl of the print and the movement of the skirt.

Today's dress also reminds me of the empire waists at Proenza Schouler Spring 2010

Prints at DVF

And flowy girliness at Chris Benz

Finished the look off with the gladiator sandals for comfort and the clutch for a bit of pop. Perfect way to beat the heat today.

Early Bird Special is ALWAYS the way to roll. Clamoring with the crowds is for amateurs!
