The Scene
Big bomb at The Office today. So much for business as usual.

More confident than ever big changes are nigh. Whatever happens I'm ready. Not sure how but I've managed to save more than a few months salary. That's the least they say you should have squirreled away in savings in case you lose your job. Or start a business :)

The Commentary

Can't get that Forever 21 gray dress out of my mind.

Inspired today's choice of gray trompe l'oeil.

A gray dress is so versatile. All it takes is a belt or necklace to completely reinvent it.

Gray outwear is also infinitely useful for a Recessionista interested in transforming casual or dress looks alike.

And I cannot tell you how a good gray tank will get you out of many a fashion emergency - work or play related.

Think a gray skirt is probably more wearable for most women than gray jeans though I'm a fan of both.

But probably the most flexible gray item every woman should own is a dress. Short or long - it doesn't matter. Just make sure it's flattering and feminine to balance the seriousness of the color.

Felt odd wearing a dress today and not adding a necklace. Necklaces are THE accessory du jour this summer.

But since this dress has enough going on at the bust, I decided to just add a pin. Love the dash of flash.

Felt perfectly professional in my monochromatic look as the ground underneath me shifted today at work.

Wow. Okay. 3 things:

1. So sorry to hear about the upsets at your office.

2. Loving all of your posts today! Such a treat to see the multiple updates in my reader.

3. That bbq place from your previous looks fantastic. Sweet potato fries are my cryptonite.

It's a sign and a good one at that. Can't wait to see you strike out on your own. I'll be in LA early next year, may get you to take me on a Fashion District tour - you should be well and truly in the business by then.

LOVE the heels and dress combo - you look fantastic.

Thinking good thoughts for you on the office front.

I just ordered a grey jersey tank dress thinking that it would be a perfect piece for the office and for play. This post totally confirms my initial thoughts. :)

Sorry about the crap at work.

Separately, is that F21 dress a knockoff of the Black Halo ruffle dress?

Our CEO recently moved on and I can tell you the replacement has been a breath of fresh air.

Side note: I too love that Forever dress. I really, really do. But sadly it doesn't work for my figure. Boo.

I bought that Forever grey dress, even though it was way too tight on me. I was romping around LA in it, and the darn thing totally split up the back. ALL the way up the back. My bad.

Love the dress and the pin!
This is post is just what I needed to make me feel less guilty about the grey dress I just bought at F21 and the grey pencil skirt I just nabbed on Rue La La.
