The Scene

Lunch with this dirty pretty Architect today - a delicious mid-day respite from the mundane. Over French onion soup and pastries, we chat about mommies, boyfriends, religion, jobs, the economy, fashion and trash TV.

Current obsession: The Housewives of New Jersey. Saw the preview last night and am hooked. Picture the Sopranos meets Dr. 90210 meets the UFC. Seriously, at least, two of the housewives are gonna throw down this season. Two words: Bravo, Bravo.

The Outfit
Diane Von Furstenberg dress
Forever 21 leggings
Theory velvet jacket

The Accessories
Fashion District necklace and bracelet
Chanel bag
Forever 21 sunglasses

The Commentary

My hair and face were simply not co-operating this morning. This seems to be happening more and more often in my thirties. Sigh.

Decided to throw on a bunch of pretty things to distract from the facial and follicle fugs. Started with the rosette hair pin which lead to the floral dress which lead to the rosette bracelet. Added the necklace thinking it'd be too much and it was - just the perfect amount of too much ;)

Threw on the leggings as an unconscious ode to DVF's Fall runway show.
Very curious to see how she prices some of those print leggings. I am thinking they will be in the $100-$200 range.

Wishing she would do tights in her signature prints. How insanely fab would those be???? Makes great business sense too - a lower barrier to entry for consumers than a $400 wrap dress.

Topped the outfit off with my trusty military style velvet jacket. Velvet will be THE fabric come September. Already planning to dust off some velvet gowns for next year's holiday parties.

Finished the look off with my slouchy cheapie boots.

And my structured pricey bag.

Been seeing gorgeous boots all over lately

Would love to get some tall suede boots for next fall.

High heeled leather boots always make me feel a bit self conscious, a bit too sex kitten. It's 31 years of Catholic guilt.

Been meaning to tell you Zara has some leggings that feel nicely substantial, like I'm wearing pants, not an undergarment. And they're matte but synthetic, so they hold their color. I want to go back for more colors.

What did Hanibal say to Clarice about an expensive bag and cheap shoes?

I've never actually heard anyone say that! Big kiss D. You look fabulous.

I really like that dress with the leggings. Super cute. Might have to steal the idea from ya. And take Jean Bean's suggestion and check out the leggings at Zara. ;)
