The Commentary

Originally I was going to drive to The OC tonight and have dinner with all of Mr. D's trial colleagues. Hence the dressing up like a legal eagle on a Friday. Built the entire outfit around this delicious trench coat. I love it. Makes me feel like Peggy Lipton in Mod Squad. Also a little like Sgt. Pepper!

Can you believe I got it at a Goodwill in Torrance??? Cost $40 almost 10 years ago. Total steal. Has more than paid for itself in compliments over the last decade. Today alone it garnered 3 at work and 1 from a stranger after work. That's 10 bucks a compliment ;)

Went for a whole retro vibe with the poufed up hair and the heavy black eyeliner. A little Bardot, a little Moss channeling Bardot for Burberry.

Nothing like a sassy trench to make you feel haute couture on a blah day!

So many fabrics and cuts to choose from. No excuse not to have one in your wardrobe.

Am currently loving the idea of these Oscar de La Renta morning coats for Spring. Especially in a color that pops like lime green or in a romantic bold floral.

Digging the idea of the proportion with a dress and slightly highwater pants. Will make a nice substitute for blazers and wrap sweaters.

Today was also the debut of these voluminous linen Chanel pants. Bought them resale for $35 last year. The fit isn't the best but I couldn't resist. C-H-A-N-E-L earrings alone cost a couple hundred dollars, people.

The tuxedo stripe really makes the pants for me. Notice they are slightly blue in the light. Like a fine tuxedo. Thanks Sable Crow for teaching me that.

Karl did only four pant looks for his spring 2009 collection.

All black, skinny, and with a slight highwater length. I am searching all over for a recessionista priced version of this exact cut at the moment. Will keep you appraised.

Love them paired with the classic tweed jacket.

And adore them in leather. Rock and roll meets Coco!

Karl actually showed four more pairs of pants if you count the men's looks that ended the show.

After Halloween, you know I support Chanel gender bending. Would love to see Sable Crow in Chanel of any kind!

After all, it would take a real fashionisto like him to step up to Chanel pearls ;)
