The Scene
The Biscuit and I have been trying to hang out foreva. Last week, he suggested Taste of Tuesday at the Viceroy. Apparently, during the summer the hotel does what amounts to an American dim sum under the stars. Deliciously intriguing.

The Biscuit and I have been friends for five years. That's amazing to me. Feels like just yesterday we were coworkers at UCLA and he was the only reason I made it through the day. Love!

He is one of the best human beings I know. Amazing energy. Don't get me wrong he's one of my favorite catty cats. But he is also incredibly kind and compasionate. Hilarious but profound. A good Minnesota boy through and through. So lucky to have crossed paths with him.

Lauragami (and her gams!!!) made it out too. Had a feeling she and the Biscuit would get along swimmingly. They are both so mellow, so self deprecating and, well, so TALL ;) Had no idea Laura's parents are both from Minnesota too. Interesting "coincidences" abound when you pay attention.

The first time Lauragami and I hung out was exactly a year ago. At my birthday. She was representing for her bestie Mindychu who was out of town. Super sad neither of them are going to be able to make it to this year's bash. Going to bring the leggy blonde contingent down to zero ;)

Had a fun relaxing evening sampling the Viceroy's tasty confections (the mango elk was my fave! very elky!) and discussing how the world is going to hell in a handbasket. Great beginning to my birthday celebrations.

The Commentary
Built the outfit around my new Marc Jacobs round toes. $125 on sale. Love love love em!!! They say 'amore Marc' all over. They are the same cuties I got for my mom in red on Mother's Day and that she loved so much, she got them in gold too.

The heel is a bit sensible for me but the sassy print makes up for it. And that bow. Thinking they are going to be my new red Marc shoes since my pointy Marc flats are on their last legs. R.I.P.

Added this chiffony butterfly Forever 21 top because the print plays off the shoes so perfectly. Just $22. Love the flutter at the shoulders. Reminds me of something DVF would do.

Added the jacket and skirt as part of my "black" experiment. Mixed in the Chanel to elevate the look a bit. And ugh, the headband to try to control my mane. Am seriously considering doing the Japanese straightening again soon.

Didn't feel particularly adorable today but both the Biscuit and Lauragami twittered about how great I looked upon seeing me. Makes me think that when you do a fairly consistent job of dressing with flair, other people just assume you look great and don't look too closely every time. Does that make sense?

It's like making deposits in a bank over time and then cashing in when you are feeling a bit empty handed.

Thought you had paired it with shorts from the picture! Think it would look fantastic with a pair of shorts.
