The Scene
Last week was bananas. Soooo busy that my birthday didn't even factor in my top three events of the week. So what nabbed the top spot? My first Trevor Project Board of Directors meeting!!!! Proud to announce that in the last month, I was nominated and voted onto the pretigious board. Feel honored to join such an incredible group of dedicated, self-less people like my college BFF Sable Crow. Ready to start working even harder for an organization that I love and truly believe is helping change society.
One of my first orders of business as a board member? A meeting last Monday with the DELICIOUS Mr. Brad Goreski. I mean...do you die???? I did. We met over dinner at SoHo house (me-OW!) to discuss my pet project: getting fashion brands and influencers more involved with Trevor.
Brad was full of wonderful ideas, palpable enthusiasm and geniune passion. ADORE his face! During the meeting, he also revealed that, like yours truly, he is a thirtysomething Leo, a USC alum AND a huge Real Housewives of New York fan. Love, love and LOVE. We bonded over all of it as well as Brad's self-professed "obsession" with my Valentino heels. When he told me that they are his favorite shoes ever, I thought, "Yay!!!!" and revealed that---DUH!---I wore them for him.
However, I failed to mention to him that we actually met a few years ago at a Trevor event when I was a tispy superfan and asked for a pic after we talked crying on Bravo.
I figure that's, um, more second friend date material ;)

The Commentary
For my first board meeting, I wanted to look professional but fashionable.Wanted to be the new girl that wasn't trying too hard but wasn't easy to forget. Plus, I knew we'd probably be huffing it to dinner & drinks somewhere in WeHo after our meeting so I knew I should wear sensible shoes.
Needless to say, the ladies and men of the board loved that for me Prada = sensible.
