My Date with Marc by Marc Jacobs Spring 2011

On my last day in NYC, I had one very important date on one very VIP 9th floor.
{Squeal, faint, piss!}

Meet the lovely Miss MJ.  She is a friend of my friend MChu and she has worked for the man, the myth, the Marc for the last four years.

Last Monday, Miss MJ graciously gave this rabid fan a tour of the Marc showroom.
{I die, I'm dead, I died!!}

While she walked me through the Spring 2011 collection in the very room Marc created it, I drooled like a country mouse staring down a big city cheese plate.



Fell in love with all the "circle" dresses.

And the stripes galore

Loved all the longer hemlines and the trench coats with signature Marc detailing. Very wearable, classic, all-American sportswear. Smart move in this economy.

Not gonna lie: I felt like I'd won the Nobel Peace Prize since my outfit - hastily thrown together and damp from the pouring rain outside - fit in perfectly. Red stripes, maxi skirt, trenchcoat.  Check, check and check. Without trying, I had managed to look soooo next season. ;)

Marc himself would have been so proud that he would have gifted me with these beauties. I'm sure of it!

I would have said, I couldn't possibly.  And when he insisted I would have also demanded my favorite piece of the entire collection: this eyelet dream of a dress.  She will be mine!

Ugh. And don't even get me started on all the gorge bags I wanted to stick inside my bag.

Fact: Marc by Marc handbags are the fastest growing part of the MJ empire.

Not surprising since they are always the right balance of practical and fun.

They manage to be timeless and trendy at the same time.

And they are at a decent price point for the working girl.

Fact Numero Dos: This nerd nearly pooped when I saw all the MJ nerd gear.

Nothing excites me more than the intersection of my two favorite things: the Interwebs and fashion

This laptop bag needs to get into my belly now!

I think my iPad will have several new sleeping bags soon.

Thank god for designers that understand that the tech crowd deserves some sass too. 

Final fact: I'm pretty sure I let out a little yelp of glee when I saw next season's Marc by MJ jewelry. 

The apples, pears, stars and rainbows reminded me of the season when I first fell in love with Marc. 

Nearly a decade ago.

That 23 year old girl never ever NEVER dreamed 10 years later she'd get a peek inside Marc's world.

Makes me look forward to what 43 might bring.
Hopefully it's not just more wrinkles and gray ;)
