The Scene
Never thought Friday would come. Hallelujah it did.

Mr. D and I found a way to dampen our spirits quickly- Capitalism: A Love Story. Unflinching look at the greed, corruption, ignorance and good ole American idealism baked into the collapse of the global markets. Micheal Moore really knows how to kill a romantic evening ;)

Realized tonight that I now live in fear that I could be on the wrong side of the next collapse...

The Outfit
Fashion District dress
Forever 21 capelet

The Accessories
Louis Vuitton flats
Stella McCartney bag

The Grade
Pass; A+ for the shoes

The Commentary

Have been wanting to get into oxfords as my flat for fall. But have been feeling too chubby tubby to deliberately try looking masculine. Enter a pair of Louis Vuitton shoes.

Found them at Fashion Therapy. Have never ever never had any luck in that resale store but stopped in on a whim a few weeks ago. The store was a dearth except for these ballet flats. Red trim, bow, Murakami faces, Louis Vuitton monogram. Perfection priced at $200.

But wasn't sure I was dying to make them mine i.e. was feeling guilty about spending money. Even negotiated them down to $150 but still walked away empty handed. Resolved to wait a week to see if the little anime faces stuck in my head. And - duh - they did. THEY ARE MURAKAMI! Snapped them up early this week. Paid to wait. They'd gone on sale for $139. Score of all time since they likely retailed for over $500.

Decided to play into the metallic sheen of the shoes with some daytime sparkle.

Cannot get enough of sequins lately. Would literally wear them every day, all day. Liberace meets Charo style.

Dying to wear the sequin pair of leggings I nabbed at H&M weeks ago. Alas I no longer go out dancing regularly. Maybe in NYC...

Plucked out the neutral dress to anchor the outfit. Highly recommend one for days you don't want to look chic but don't want to worry about what you have on.

Have been adoring the look of neutral separates for transitional weather

But this has to be one of the best looks I've seen in a long time. J Lo is after all the goddess of neutrals.

And of looking as good coming as she does going. God, what would any of us do without JLo's ass? Answer me that, Micheal Moore.

I'm tired of Michael Moore's bullhorn. He has to get a new gimmick. That one is worn out like the strippers in Gypsy.

I love love love the shoes. You're so lucky!

I wish I lived near LA. Seems like you're always talking about secondhand stores that sell nice things. Or fashionistas looking to empty their closets ;)

I was so lucky to find a Chanel Mademoiselle tote for about $450, including the exchange rate! That is my greatest purchase of all time.

If you find any good places for resale deals in Boston, spread the word...I live relatively close to Boston!

Great collection you put together for us. Doesn't Katy Perry have the GREATEST legs. Oh and JLo's dress...LOVE the back detailing. You're right - she is the goddess of neutrals.

You get an A based on the shoes alone. In fact you could be wearing ONLY the shoes and get an A.
