The Scene
Got an email from my stylist at The Argyle Salon today. She's offering me and my readers $100 off Brazilian Blowouts!!! Um, $250 for another 90 days of salon perfect hair???? I booked my appointment before she could change her mind. YAYAYAYYA!

A word to those of you STILL debating a Brazilian: GET OFF THE POT. It's the best thing my mom and I have ever done to our hair. Literally the miracle we've been looking for our entire lives. No damage and no regrowth. Just sleek, frizz free hair with little effort. Email me and I'll send you a coupon too.

MY SUPER SWEET GIVEAWAY #2

For all of you with glorious straight hair who don't need a Brazilian, I hate you. If you have perfect skin and straight hair, I REALLY hate you.

I have OILY skin. Always have. Walking, talking oil slick style. Was quite the looker in high school between the curly fro and HORRIBLE acne. Sigh.

Because of the trauma of my teenage years, I'm always on the look out for new products to keep breakouts at bay. In the last 20 years, I've tried it all - Clearasil, Neutrogena, Clinique, ProActiv, Avon. My latest go to product: Murad. Though to be honest, it can dry me out.

Recently the good people at Perricone MD approached me about doing a oily skin care giveaway. Their Skin Clear Cleanser "helps to clear troubled skin by reducing excess sebum and eliminating surface contamination." This deep-cleaning acne cleanser contains the anti-aging ingredient DMAE, which helps to firm and tone skin. Green Tea Extract calms and clarifies while Allantoin helps encourage skin renewal.

Sounded deeeelish to me so I accepted on your behalf.

To enter to win this $35 product just submit a comment on this post. Include what skincare products you've used in the past. Contest ends on September 9 at 5 pm PT. Sorry, US residents only.

Good luck, oily sistas!

I usually use Johnson and Johnson PURPOSE for both my skin soap and moisturizer. It's very low-glam but a dermatologist recommended it (in the early 90's!) and it's been great and kept me virtually flawless ever since! It's fragrance free and hypoallergenic, formulated especially for people with sensitive/oily skin. I don't have oily skin so much, I'm more of a T-zone queen. But I would recommend Purpose for anyone, it's inexpensive and comes a in blue bottle or box that is sometimes hard to but it's always next to the Physoderm-type clinical-looking products away from the other cleansers.

Can't wait to compare it with that overpriced Perricone stuff I'm gonna win from making this comment!!

Fun giveaway! I'm like you, I feel like I've tried everything for the oily skin. I've been using Cetaphil for a few years now paired with my Clarisonic, Clinique used to be my go to, tried Dermalogica which I liked okay, Dr Brand't was okay, I use St Ives scrub occassionally. I'm always open to new suggestions.

Lurve the zippers! My favorite skincare products are:

1. Philosophy Purity facial cleanser. Hands down best.cleanser.ever. Gets even the most caked on mascara off with ease.
2. Oil of Olay Total Effects Daily Moisturizer.
3. Aveeno Facial Moisturizer SPF 70 – I’m a bit obsessed with this one. I put on one layer then the Oily of Olay and then another Aveeno layer. Not greasy at all and has high SPF.
4. Chanel Energizing Multi-Protection Fluid – SPF – A bit pricey so I use this twice a week. It really does boost radiance.

I have straight hair but have super oily skin. Bleh. I’m still looking for my HG (holy grail) skincare products and makeup. Right now I like Olay Daily Facials for cleansing and use Finacea (an Rx for Rosacea and mild acne).

I use blot papers during the day like a crazy person with a light dusting of MAC Pressed Blot Powder afterwards. I also swear by oil free transfer resistant foundations like Revlon Colorstay. I’m trying out the new Revlon Mineral Mousse foundation right now, which has staying power, but I still somehow manage to get the oilies later in the day. I also like Jane Iredale Pure Pressed Mineral Foundation, but I have to reapply it mid-day because I’m so oily and it wears off. Grr…

:: shaking my fist at my oily skin and at people who say oily skin ages better ::

I have oily skin too! Days like these and putting on make up for interviews - forget about it.

I use St Ives Apricot scrub and Nuetrogena anti-wrinkle, anti-blemish cleanser. I follow up with an oil free SPF 15 Nuetrogena moisturizer.

However, I swear by WATER. Drink tons and tons of water and it will improve your skins appearence and it's good for you! My browologist noticed a difference in my skin once I increased my water intake!

Love ya! :)

::whispering:: Um, I don't qualify for either of the above offers. :/

LOVE this outfit on you! Btw, I finally learned this morning that fabulous shoes can change your whole outlook. My new Ferragamos have me walking on cloud 9! I debuted them at the office today and everyone agreed - they are so fab!

Now it's just a matter of adding to the collection - resale here I come!

Cute outfit!

As for the skin care, I have been using Aveeno Daily scrub, and tissue blotters. I sometimes put benzoyl peroxide 5% on my nose where its most shiny.

I'm currently using Philosophy's Hope in a Jar and Purity made simple. I love them both! I also use a stronger medicated face wash prescribed by my dermatologist for acne.

Proactive, Neutrogena & so many more I can't remember. I'm no on a Hydrocortisone something cream that was given to me by a good friend.

I use Oil of Olay moisturizer. I am oily too, and its the only one that feels good on my skin and doesn't add anything extra.

And, the blowout sounds fab for a fellow latina's frow hair!

People THINK I have straight hair, but that's only because I straighten it EVERY MORNING. Otherwise I'd look like Medusa. Or MEdusa having a bad hair day. Too bad I'm not in Cali :(

For products...hmm...I use many. Shiseido for the cleanser and tinted moisturizer, Annick Goutal for the night cream (it smells divine), Retin-A for acne, and recently DDF's Alpha Beta pads. (I've been laying off the Retin-A while using those pads.) My skin is dry--super dry--but I get zits every now and then. Oh and don't forget the SPF. Shiseido again.

I did my hair while I was out in LA and I'm loving it!

You make that hair look fab! I use Neutrogena foaming face cleanser, but I've yet to find a lotion that doesn't make me oily.

Pick me! Pick me!
I've been using an Aveeno cleanser, but it has recently turned on me & left me a ruddy looking mess. I'm in search of something new for my face.

I HATE my oily skin! My face is slick and greasy within the hour of cleansing and applying make up. This heat has been treacherous! I've tried so many products and nothing works. I'm currently using Bioelements cleanser, toner & moisturizer that my esthetician (can never spell that word) recommended.

I've about given up!

I'm always on the lookout for new skincare! I use Clinique face wash right now.

That picture of your younger self is too cute!
I have an oily t-zone and relatively good skin, so I don't have a particular routine. Tinted moisturizer and bronzer helps cut down on shine in the morning.
I say embrace the curls, but do know all to well that you want what you don't have. I love curls because most of the time it's just straight.
Don't hate too much!! :)

Ugh! I get so oily I can blot with a paper towel and see through it! Yuk.

I've used all kinds of fancy: Dermalogica, Khiels, Nancy Boy, and a couple other high-end cleansers from Barneys.

I've considered carburetor cleaner from the automotive store (used to remove engine oil), even dish soap. My favorite is at the office, where I sometimes get shiny enough that I'll ditch out to wash my face with that awful almond-smelling soap they put in the dispensers in the bathroom.
For the last couple of years, my skin has responded really well to a cheaper option: Cetaphil. I get it at CVS. In the mornings I use a milk-based face soap after shaving.

Ladies, just be happy you don't have to shave your face: It creates ALL KINDS of havoc on your oily skin.
