The Scene

This morning, Mr. D and I headed to the Grove to pick up his mom's birthday present at Nordstrom (a lilac Eileen Fisher sweater he picked out all by himself!)

Then like a mirage in the desert - we spied this glorious cart brimming with Ronald McDonald goodness.

Since they didn't have a Song Girl outfit in my size I settled on some earrings. Have always wanted USC jewelry. YAY!

In the evening, we headed south to the Queen Mary

to celebrate the birthday of another queen.

After a rigorous workout, I treated myself to a whole lotta food - completely undoing all the good of said workout. F.

Lovely relaxing night. Mr. D's mom cleaned up with beautiful presents and three lawyers with the same eyes got to talk shop.

All seemed right with the world until I got a call from Lauragami. Her mom's neighborhood was in flames and she was evacuated today! Just awful. Keep their pretty family and all the victims in your thoughts. It's armageddon.

The Commentary

Felt like dressing up a bit tonight. Been feeling so blah lately. Plus the Queen Mary always makes me feel like I've stepped back in time - to a time when people actually dressed. So I decided I definitely wanted to wear a dress - something ladylike and bit retro but not too dressy.

This Forever 21 dress fit the bill perfectly. Just $30. But the bow and the buttons and the drape made it look much pricier to me.

Wore my pony to the side so all the delightful neckline details would be on full display.

Like ruffles and tiers, bows are a perennial favorite of mine. So girly and precious and whimsical.

So dressed up and polished in my signature black and white. Classic Chanel.

Love big bows

And little ones.

Especially digging them for evening in silks.

Lanvin did some gorgeous evening options for spring.

This dress kills me. Looks super unflattering even on a rail thin model but I'd work it out.

Also dig bow detail on shoes.

Especially these killer Pradas. I DIE!

Initially Manolos felt like the way to go tonight. Love that this dress will work with any one of my four pairs.

But ultimately decided the metallic YSLs were best for evening. Made the dress less adorable and more adult.

Need all the help I can get in that department. Whenever I'm with Mr. D I feel giggly and silly like a little kid. I think they call that love.

In the move I uncovered a pearl necklace that was my grandmothers. The clasp is a diamond clad bow and I ADORE it.

Super cute dress :-)

love all the bows you found... there is a sorority girl lurking inside everyone, i think, even diabolina.

and so true about your giggliness - you do know i broke up with a boyfriend after he couldn't handle how we were not as giggly-silly as you and mr. d (last time i was in l.a. many moons ago and we all went to a dodgers game i think courtesy of the firm mr. d was then clerking for) ?!?!
