The Scene
Big announcement at The Office today. Chapter 11 big.

I'd known this was coming for months so I was actually MUCH more shocked by a co-worker choosing to wear these shoes today than with the actual announcement. DEAR GOD WHAT'VE I DONE TO DESERVE WEBBED TOES??

Good news: Everything is business as usual. Bad news: Everything is business as usual. Sigh.

Since my momma knew I'd had a rough week, she whisked me away to a lovely French lunch this afternoon.

She also wanted to make sure I got this "before" shot of her hair.

I booked her Brazilian Blowout appointment at The Argyle for this afternoon. Ironically, Nicole Richie tweeted about introducing her mom to the Brazilian this week. Great minds...

Met her for dinner at Fat Fish to behold her PHAT new locks. Think hers turned out even better than mine!!! The highlights look insane! YAYAYYAYA

At least I helped this pretty little baby face end the week with a smile ;)

The Outfit

Ann Taylor button down

The Accessories
Me&Ro neclaces
Louis Vuitton earrings and Damier tote
Cole Haan wedges

The Commentary

Knew the announcement was happening today so wanted to be a little dressed up for it.

Not sure why a button down and wide leg trousers screamed "bankruptcy appropriate." Maybe it's my old white man outfit ;)

Regardless I felt FRUMPTIFIED all day. Should have worn hotter shoes

And a more feminine top to feel more me.

Not sure why but I find skinny pants much easier to style than voluminous ones.

Though I have to draw the line at jeggings. Sorry Beyonce.

Now sequin leggings for evening I could get down with...

Just not with this particular top.

I think this is what Blake was going for

See how the length/cut of the button down, texture of the leggings and choice of accessories make all the difference?

I know my outfit could have benefitted from better accessories today -namely a cool belt.

But in an environment where people wear Aquaman shoe socks what does it really matter what I wear. {crying}

The Scene
Big scary happenings at work today. Taking it all in stride since it's completely out of my control. Going to take things one day at a time but it seems clear that I may have to put some kind of plan B into action sooner than expected.

So much instability wherever I look lately. Personally, professionally, even politically. I'm sooooo over this adult thing.

At the very least my hair looks better than it ever did when I was young and carefree.

Frizz free EVEN AFTER WORKING OUT!!!! Made an appointment for my mom to get her Brazilian Blowout tomorrow. Can't wait to both have no fuss, no muss hair. It'll be one less thing to fret over in the coming months.

The Commentary

Built the outfit around this languidly drapey scarf. My mom was cleaning out her closet and gave it to me a few months ago. Had completely forgotten about it.

Tried to channel Girl in the Green Scarf today.

Right down the dangly earrings.

Bought them for my 27th birthday party when I wore a hot tamale green dress. Still love love love the earrings and the dress. Both under $40 at Nordstrom's juniors department.

The scarf managed to make me feel like a statuesque Lauragami

Crossed with a diminutive Olsen today.

Thought about wearing a white tank to contrast the green

But was feeling too chunky monkey for white.

Opted for the monochromatic black. Much more flattering.

And always more Fashion with a capital F.

Seriously addicted to black boyfriend blazers at the moment.

Dying to wear one with a short short skirt and high high heels.

But for work pants and Pradas were more appropriate today.

Love the contrast of my toes withe ombre of the heels.

Currently obsessed with the Elizabeth and James shoes about to hit the market.

They'll set you back about $300. But you'll be walking pretty.

The Scene

Have you ever watched HBO's In Treatment? I only caught a few episodes of the first season but LOOVED them. I grew up wanting to be a psychologist. And that strangely intimate yet clinical verbal dance between a therapist and patient continues to fascinate me.

So much so that I watched 5 episodes back to back tonight. Not a good idea. Too much intense emotion for someone dealing with an intensely emotional time right now. Ugh. I want off this rollercoaster. Or at least a good therapist along for the ride.

The Outfit
Forever 21 dress
Image wrap sweater

The Accessories
Fashion District necklace
YSL bag
Narcisco Rodriguez heels
Forever 21 sunglasses

The Commentary

Feeling exhausted this morning. From the marching last night and the last few weeks in general. Dug out an easy, go-to bubble dress in a tribal print. Forever 21 to the rescue.

A great alternative to Versace bubbliciousness

Or even this more reasonably priced but still pricey Tibi dream.

Today's dress has had quite a bit of staying power.

Bought it over two years ago and it still works with so many of the runway trends

It's a cross between Anna Sui Spring 2009

And DVF Fall 2009.

A bit Oscar de La Renta-ish

And DKNY-y

Dusted off this old faux coral neclace today to add to the global bazaar feel of the outfit.

Not much of a statement piece but always a nice pop of color. Especially on a hump day.

The shape of the necklace reminds me of those creepy carved necklaces, earrings and heels Dior did this season.

Much prefer Anna Sui's take on tribal.

Donned the red sandals today

Again in an effort to pep up the outfit and my mood.

Thinking this pair of Narcisco sandals would be perfect for ...love Maegan's brilliant DIY detachable shoe ruffles.

Loving all the recessionista creativity that is coming out of tough economic times. One always has to look for the silver lining during cloudy personal and fashion times.
